Number 22, photographer unknown, 1939 or 1940, Pittsburgh, PA

This is a picture of my father (with camera) when he was about 17. He was the school photographer (among other things) and from the photos that I remember seeing around the house as a kid, he seemed to be pretty good. He never pursued it and soon after this photo was taken he joined the Army and was sent to WWII. I know that he did take pictures over there but they are long gone. As are all of his cameras.

My Father was never a "shutter bug" when I was younger and he rarely took even vacation photos. He seemed not to be interested in it. He did buy my camera but he never knew I was a photographer. I don't think he had even seen any of my photos before he died in 1999.

I have always like this photo and used to look at it when I was a child. I see a person that I never knew and who never knew me. My Uncle Neil is also in the photo. He is the little boy sitting front row, far left. People are very strange, when you're a stranger.
